Merrimack

A few months ago I was lurking Karen's from Somerset patchwork's blog and I seen her new BOM Merrimack I was immediately entranced, I had adored her 2012 BOM but had wimped out, this time I said to myself.  .  .  .  .
do it .  .  .  .  .

So I signed up and today, I picked up month one whilst I was at the stitches and craft show

This is what I received in the first month,
5 pages of instructions.  .  .  .  .  .  OMG
A huge template set
And my first four lovely fabrics

This is month one.  .  .  .  .  .  see those little green stars.  .  .  .  .
they are English pieced
and each star has five tiny pieces to stitch together.  .  .  .  .  .
And the are hand appliqued to the centre

The fabrics

Merrimack and the gang from Somerset are set to challenge me
My skills at cutting with templates are fairly limited

has anyone got any hints or tips?

There are lots of Y seams, I have done these before, once . . . .  using a somerset pattern
they are definitely do - able but they require patience and precision
(something i could definitely get better at)
And there are LOTS of teeny tiny pieces

I look forward to sharing my journey with Merrimack with you
And catching up on everyone's blogs, since my little time away from the net

Lovely choice, a real heirloom in the making. I think precision is really important with hand piecing tiny pieces, and a double stitch at the end of the seam. Good luck, will enjoy watching it grow.

That is going to be so pretty. As you long you go slowly and carefully with the hand piecing it should go fine. Enjoy. It will be a stunning quilt.
enjoy your new project........
