Friday night with friends

my post is a little late (as usual) but i did take part in

one of the things i really love doing is making up my own pattern
Now i am definitely no designer
but i do occasionally get inspired and have a play at making up my own pattern

so this friday night i had a play
i used some left over fabric from my scrubs and used some special
heat resistant wadding
and did some quilting, i used this really cool wavy stitch my machine can do

almost finished . . . . doesn't the wavy stitch look cool . . .

i cut out this really cool kidney shape and made two pockets for the back
stitched some binding on

my new pot holder

i hope you had a great friday night stitching with friends

a sigh of releif

I LOVE starting new projects. . . . I really do, just like every other quilter/sewer i know. . . . . and i have lot's of projects on the go . . . . .but what i also really love is finishing projects. . . . . .

I love that sense of achievement when something is finished and i can say . . i Made that . . . . . . .  it's finished I also love that amazement when i look at the top of my sewing cabinet and go wow that's right that's the colour of the cabinet . . . .as the mountain of projects have magically disappeared. you see i need to confess that i have a very annoying illness, i need things to be tidy. . . .  yeh i know, i know . . . . . but i can't help it i just really like a bit of order, it makes me feel good . . . .

so now your thinking i am going to have heaps to show you . . . .  nope can't show you yet. . . .  it's secret stitching , I have been very fortunate to be part of Chookyblue's secret santa swap for 2012

these lovely wrapped parcels are on Santa's sleigh heading for an overseas destination

these were posted yesterday, yeh a little late . . .i have an excuse though . . . .you see i was sleeping when the Santa's sleigh office was open . . .  like a vampire i wandered the earth at night, and slept during the day ( yeh . . . i have been on Night duty once again) that's why i didn't make it to the blog meet in Bathurst, and also why my parcel was a little late getting onto the sleigh. But the lady at the sleigh office assure's me that my parcel will arrive at it's destination by the end of the week, so i am happy

so now i just need to wait for my sleigh to arrive . . . .

i have been doing some other stitching as well, nothing really amazing just some christmas scrubs for work

just need to do the hem, i must say i have enjoyed making this top so quick to put together

which is good because this material is also about to be clipped, pinned, tucked and stitched into a scrub top as well . . . .

that's enough from me for now, i am thrilled my secret stitching is over for a while, now. I like having something to show and tell on my blog

Hope your hands are working on something that you love

Friday night with friends

Well i can't show you what i worked on on friday night, because i worked on my secret stitching. . . . . nearly done.

but what i can show you is a project that i completed recently

i have been part of a sewing class specifically created for my model sewing machine.
the classes are held at thorpe and co newcastle
and each month we are taught different skills and functions our machines can do

decorative stitches

the simple stunning difference a triple needle can make to an ordinary stitch

how to put an invisible zipper in and how to do cording

it was a great project and it was alot of fun playing with the machine

i hope your hands are working on something that you love

I'm Back.... and so is my sewing Mojo

well we have been back for a while really, about 3 weeks almost. Things have been flat out as usual in our house and getting to sit down at the computer has been a challenge and also i have been working flat out trying to get some very special secret sewing done

but this is what i can show you

after seeing a quilt made from these 1" pointed thimbles, i just had to have a go, not sure of the final project this will be probably a pillow....
these were put together whilst we driving around Tasmania
and i am so excited because i can actually sew the thimbles together whilst gadget is driving the car...
so i can see EPP is going to be something that will always be in the car for road trips

Anni Downs "sing bag", from her "the simple life" book...
i purchased the kit in Sydney in June

just need to get the lining done

some new fabric , to make some bright summer skirts

and here is some photo's of Peg & Dale that i didn't manage to get up whilst i was in Tasmania

catching up with the locals in Mole Creek Tasmania

Hanging out in their favourite place, a patchwork shop

this is the absolutely fabulous, The Quilted Crow

it was just such a gorgeous shop filled with gorgeous fabrics....

the shop is in this gorgeous sandstone church

with it's equally stunning stain glass windows, it was the only patchwork shop i managed to visit in Tasmania

and the lovely

Leonie and Deidre made the three of us so welcome

Peg and Dale are still hanging out with us here in the beautiful

Hunter Valley

i m sure we will have some more photo's next time

i hope your hands are working on something that you love

the adventures of Peg and Dale in Tasmania

Hi everyone, I bet you thought we had just disappeared , well we haven’t we have been very very busy…….

Googy girl, gadget boy and Miss S took us across the Tasman sea . . . . . . . .

On this . . . . . . . .

The seas were very rough and we were very glad that Miss S took us into her bed and kept us company.

But we woke to a beautiful day in Tasmania

For the first week or so we stayed at Launceston we went to see so many things

We went to Cataract Gorge

Yep we did some modeling

And we got to ride across the gorge on a chair lift, it was a little nerve racking

We got to meet this young man, he was very strange when he met us he made some strange noises and his tail stood right up on end…….very strange

We go to visit some heritage homes

Here we are waiting at the gate

Clarendon House

We went for a very long drive and visited the Bridstowe lavender farm, unfortunately the lavender wasn’t out but it was a very interesting place and googy girl did lot’s of shopping

We then helped out with hooking up the van and headed to the east coast, whilst there we got to see lot’s of things we seen the bay of fires, some penguins, a blow hole. Unfortunately one day we had to stay at the van, because the family went out on a boat and they were a little concerned that we would blow away….it was ok though because we got to sleep in………

The bay of fires

We then packed up again and headed south, we spent two glorious days wandering around the port Arthur historic site, it was really interesting. We also got to see some Tasmanian devils…..they make the strangest sounds….like a cat having it’s tail pulled

This one seemed to be a little too interested in us

We are now in Hobart, today we went shopping at the Salamanca Markets, tomorrow we are heading to a museum… much to see and do.

If you would like to see what type of things we have been doing with the family just head over to

Sorry we haven’t been posting very frequently, and Googy girl said to say sorry she hasn’t been keeping up with visiting your blogs, but internet access has been a bit of a premium

catch you soon
