Merrimack block one complete

I am thrilled to finally do this post . . .

Merrimack block one is complete and boy was it a bit of learning curve,
but I loved it . . . . A lot

So last time I was up to this bit, where I was sewing these corner bit s in, they all went in perfectly, with no problems . . . .

So next I had to do these sections, not to difficult really . . .

Then came this section, a little more tricky

But on the upside I am now really good at set in seams and Y seams

Then I reached this point and I was soo excited, but wait can you see the problem?

Yep I had stitched the little triangles in the wrong way, so 1 episode of Downton Abbey, and alot of reverse sewing later and my block was back in pieces

The next night though . . . . .

It looked like this . . .

Then I just had to stitch my little stars

Each little star had five of these little diamond shapes, they were pretty small

My first star finished

And then all eight of them completed

And after a little appliqué
. . . . Taa Daa . . . .
My completed Merrimack centre block
(block 1)
Just in time as I suspect block two will be heading my way in the next week or so

There has been lots happening here in the egg household, so I have lots to show you. So stay tuned for some more posts coming very soon

"Hope your hands are working on a project that you love"

It's fantastic Trish. Thanks for showing the steps (and the reverse sewing). I thought it looked great before you added the stars......it's going to be a lovely quilt.

A fabulous centre block.... How annoying to have to have done reverse sewing on it.

oh wow.. it is such a lovely block... I'm going to enjoy watching it grow... I could see a problem in that one but couldn't quite work it out.. when you compare with the correct one it all makes sense... what cute cute little stars in the centre...

don't you hate the ta-da moment that is spoiled by having a couple of those pesky little triangles the wrong way.....it's looking good now though!
Just beautiful Trish....loving that outer fabric...it's gorgeous!
